EPO to Increase Official Fees from 1 April 2023

February 2023

The official fees for European patent applications are set to increase starting from 1 April 2023, according to the European Patent Office (EPO).

The official fees will generally rise by 5% or more. Applicants should consider whether to make the relevant payments “in advance” to secure lower rates.

It may be worthwhile to consider fulfilling the following before the fee adjustments take effect this April:

  1. Filing European applications, including PCT national phase applications, divisional applications, and regular applications claiming priority;

  2. Requesting examinations; and

  3. Paying renewal/maintenance fees.

While our patent fee schedules have been updated to reflect the new official fee changes, our professional charges remain unchanged. If you need any assistance, please feel free to get in touch with us at eip@eipgroup.asia.
